Bianca Balti | Giampaolo Sgura | Vogue Japan March 2012 | Kiss of the Matador

Bianca Balti turns sensual matador, lensed by Giampaolo Sgura, in ‘Kiss of the Matador’ for Vogue Japan’s March issue. Bianca’s transformation into a Spanish bullfighting goddess might predict an evolution of the sport, now banned in much of Spain. Styled by Anna Dello Russo, Bianca wears Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu, Gucci and more./Hair by Andrew Guida; makeup by Jessica Nedza.

A remarkable series of photos. I am personally immensely intrigued by the inherent eroticism of the corrida/bullfight, and female matadors in particular is something I wish to explore much more, in short stories and in debates. I know several women agree with me, at least in theory, and I do hope the addition of the female matador increases the acceptance of the corrida. Sadly this seem likely to be a mere pipedream, not least because so many male matadors refuse to even enter a RING where a woman has just fought.
Weird.
LOVE such commentary as yours! Carry on! xoxo
Well, Anne, I thank you for your comment, and I think a recent story of mine, and the response to it among my friends, prove that I am right; there is an interest in the corrida among women, all of whom respond to the sensuality of it all. For some reason I wrote it in english, which is not my native tongue, being swedish, but I feel sometimes closer to english than swedish. My story is about a woman who encounters the corrida during a vacation in Spain, and she embarks upon a sexual journey which really highlights the eroticism of the phenomenon. I think more exploration of the sexuality of the corrida would be welcome, and stimulating.
