Colombian Artist Diana Beltran Herrera's Bird Stamps Bridge Humanity & Modernism

Colombian artist Diana Beltran Herrera is working on a new project inspired by her bird sculptures. In the case of Beltran’s bird stamps, these delightful creatures are jumping into our new world.

The idea behind these works was to approach a new place through her small images, as they’re made on a much larger scale. They’re real stamps she has been collecting over the past two years. These stamps are from countries she’s lived in (Colombia), and from countries her friends are currently living in.

Like so many women artists today, Herrera laments the considerable distance in the relationship between humans and nature, and her art seeks to repair this distance.

Personally, I have a tremendous fond spot in my heart for Colombia, SA — the first country I travelled to outside of America in the drama-filled existence that can be my life.
