Textile designer and home couture designer Anne Gelbard oversaw the interiors design of the 28 rooms and six suites for the recently-opened La Belle Juliette hotel, located at 92 Rue du Cherche-Midi. The four-star hotel is located in a Restoration-era ‘hôtel particulier’, and pays homage to Juliette Récamier, the noted Napoléon-era salon hostess.
Books about Récamier and her friends fill the living-room library, her portraits hang on the walls, and each of the hotel’s four floors references an episode of her life (her trip to Italy, say, or her love affair with Châteaubriand) writes Departures.
The atmosphere of La Belle Juliette is decidely that of an artistic, culture salon. In a nod to the modern age, each room has a large screen iMac computer and broadband access.
Guests who seek pampering can visit the spa which combines Chinese medicine with seasonal treatments by Cle des Champs. One of the only spas in Paris to offer “acu lifting” - a facelift by acupuncture - guests can also enjoy use of the swimming pool and Turkish bath.
The hotel photos are frankly fabulous, putting La Belle Juliette on our stay list. Anne
