Tom Ford Sees the Sexy Solutions in Modern Relationships

A few years ago, Tom Ford’s advertising was the most provocative on the planet.  Underscoring the giant steps fashion media has taken to incorporate nudity into its editorial, the new Tom Ford eyewear campaign featuring Carolyn Murphy is witty but tame like a Playboy bunny — except for its androgyny and witty, skewed bisexuality. No make that  … forget it …  whatever your sexual preference is today is fine. Tomorrow you can be somebody else.

Ford could be on to something. Once fashion incorporates pussy shots — not closeups yet — by top models into the new LOVE, edition #3, where else is there to go?  Fetish? Macro pussy shots?

I’ve consulted on the coming intersection between soft porn and fashion for almost 10 years, having no doubt that media would deliver LOVE #3 and British Vogue with naked women on their covers. The question is ‘what’s next’?.

Is Ford delving into the female mind here? After all, she’s wearing the glasses and men have vivid sensual imaginations.

American women still nurture the princess complex, wanting the dashing, rich prince of a guy to rescue them from the demands of increasingly being the family financier. Pampering him isn’t high on her agenda, however.

Generally speaking, researchers document that time with husbands scores dead last on women’s To Do list. More women say they would rather work late in the office.

Looking at the last Ford photo I’m thinking of all the rich Wall Street guys who claim that their wives have no interest in sex, once they snag their man. Murphy in this last shot is a vision that only comes to life in soft porn flicks, because for men, hope springs eternal.

Wait up … if women marry rich Wall Street guys who are gay, then they can have status and money AND they won’t need to have sex, because lover boy is out with the guys.

Makes sense to me: the perfect union for women who think sex is a duty.

Of course, an effeminate-looking guy can be positively scorching in bed with a woman, and a gay woman who looks like a guy, can also be scorching in bed with either gender. The lines of gender demarcation on sexual partners are dissolving.

It seems that marriage is in for a rough ride in the coming years, which is why it’s lost its luster in Europe and also why the Vatican is fighting back hard.

This chuckle brings me back to real life and the Dodge ‘Last Man Standing’ ad that ran at the Super Bowl last night. We’ll keep our eye on it, but sorry if Dodge pulls the ad again from YouTube. This is the best news for the car brand, and they should just ride the viral wave. (Our first post was pulled but the agency commercial isn’t in place.)

Dodge | Last Man Standing is a frankly fabulous commentary on gender relations in America. I’m not sure that sex was even mentioned. The toilet seat, yes. Enjoy. Anne
