Dasha Zhukova's BDSM Throne Bashing Is Well Deserved

While I dispute Styleite’s headline ‘Today in Racist ‘Art’: Miroslava Duma’s Site Places White Socialite on Black Woman Bondage Chair’, the use of Norwegian artist Bjarne Melgaard’s provocative chair inspired by British pop-artist Allen Jones is offensive to me, too. Street style maven Miroslave Duma published the image of Garage editor-in-chief Dasha Zhukova sitting on her BDSM throne. I do agree that uploading the photo on Martin Luther King Jr’s day of honor in America is utterly tactless.

My own intense dislike of Allen Jones’ art is grounded in its being an aggressive, misogynist, artistic statement against women. There is simply no other way to interpret the intention of his art and the mindset of people who buy his work. I could care less if the Tate has given Jones a show, and the protests by those who own this art fall on my deaf ears.

'Mine' By Álvaro de la Herrán Starring Marina Jamieson & Garret Neff for GQ Spain

Mine from Alvaro de la Herrán on Vimeo.

Director Álvaro de la Herrán delivers an utterly spectacular interpretation of ‘50 Shades of Grey’ that is personal, intimate, non-violent, not dehumanizing and a total turn on. For many women — including this one — to be desired in this way is a great fantasy, not necessarily as a lifestyle but as part of sensual play.

I think part of the attraction of the ‘50 Shades of Grey’ phenomenon is the idea of being claimed in this way — and it doesn’t hurt, of course, that He in this case is Garrett Neff, a total studmuffin. Marina Jamieson plays the She in this scalding erotic vision superbly delivered for GQ Spain.

Fantastically well done!!!! ~ Anne

The '50 Shades of Grey' BDSM Devil Seduces in 'The Eternal Submission Collection'

To say that I’m in love with ‘The Eternal Submission Collection’, designed by Studio 6th Sense and photographed by Troy Wise is an understatement. I’m ecstatic and orgasmic because what we have is a sophisticated, clear-headed examination of the ‘50 Shades of Grey’ BDSM lifestyle that I — as a feminist and strong supporter of women’s rights — can embrace with enthusiasm.

Yes Shonda Robinson is beautiful, sexy and glamorous. And her master wears the accoutrements of wealth and money. The tradeoff for Robinson is obvious — and as an independent woman, it’s her right to make her own choices.

What I love about this campaign is that as glamorous as these Troy Wise images are — the male master is not Mr. Nice Guy. This is my fundamental resistance to this fantasy-world that women have created around ‘50 Shades of Grey’. This couple makes no attempt at intellectual depth. They may be as smug and self-absorbed as Mr. Grey and Miss Steele.

The real ‘9 1/2 Weeks’ — rather than the glamourized movie, that I adore — is not pretty or romantic at all. The true story woman very nearly died.

This ‘Eternal Submission Collection’ campaign presents the psychological case of BDSM honestly. Of course, it’s air brushed and romanticized — and blood and bruises aren’t obvious, although there’s lots of grey in the skin tones.

All I ask is that as ‘50 Shades’ sweeps the world at the same time women are losing so many rights here in America, that fashion includes the devil in the details of its portrayal of BDSM

Men Obsessed | BDSM Is Not Romantic

There was no BDSM in Alfred Hitchcock’s possession of Tippi Hedren. But he was obsessed with her, obsessed with ‘owning’ her — and he destroyed her career when she refused to submit to him. He stalked her, made countless rules about her life when Hedren worked with Hitchcock. In reality, Tippi Hedren was smothered and her personal flame as a person would have died — had she not refused Hitchcock at the cost of her movie career.

BDSM is not romantic.

Chef Alvin Leung's X-treme Culinary Advice for Better Sex

I’m watching self-professed ‘Demon Chef’ Alvin Leung as if he’s promoting ‘50 Shades of Grey’. Known for his ‘X-treme Chinese’ cuisine that is a sexually-stimulating, kinky culinary experience, the Hong Kong chef detests favorite dishes. In particular, it seems that chef Leung has an aversion to anything recipe using vanilla.

Pushing Culinary Extremes

The British-born kitchen maverick views sexy cuisine as dangerous, pushing us to extremes. In the past, my own experience with the pleasure/pain principle in food was biting into a piece of sushi with too much wasabi. Clearly I’ve not had the right man presiding over my bedside table because chef Leung promises me Chinese cooking that is “X-citing, X-otic and X-traordinary.” Speaking to The Guardian about his new restaurant Bo London, this master of domination in cooking proclaims:

“I want to explore the borders between being a genius and being an idiot,” he continues. “Like having the diner on the end of a bungee rope; if the rope is too short then there’s no thrills; if it’s too long then his head is smashed in.”

Eating X-treme food sounds like the Italian obsession with ‘Shibari’ and that terrible accident when Italian engineer Soter Mule, 42, and his 24-year-old girlfriend experienced a tragic end to a kinky night of pushing boundaries. When their less experienced woman friend fainted as she hung from the rafters in a parking garage, her dead weight tightened the ropes on Caputo, who dies of asphyxiation while the other woman nearly died also.

“No one forced anyone,” Mule told the court. “Paola and her friend consented, but I was the master and I ultimately made the fatal mistake. I should have had the knife closer, as they suggest when practicing this type of bondage. By the time I found it, it was too late.”

We can assume that chef Alvin Leung would keep a knife handy.

No ‘Sex on the Beach’ for Brits

Bo’s London won’t feature Alvin Leung’s signature dish ‘Sex on the Beach’, writes The Guardian, although the restaurant will prepare the mixture of shitake mushrooms, tapiocas, yams, honey and ham when requested.

It’s alleged that the proper British would be horrified to find the concoction that looks exactly like a used pink condom, discarded on the beach, staring at them from a pristine white dinner plate. Given the British predilection for kinky sex, I’m confused.

Just because the Brits have a penchant for a proper cup of tea, don’t think that tea time is a boring event.I have a cup of tea story that will leave you gasping for air.

Taryn Andreatta in ‘The Offering’

Taryn Andreatta On Artistic Nudity, the Female Body, Feminism & Divinity AOC Sensual Rebel (formerly Anne’s Sensually Yours)

Taryn Andreatta Interview

In posting Taryn’s interview and editorial a couple weeks ago, I wrote of feeling ambivalence about the answers in her interview. Several threads of thought upset me intensely.

1) The first was what I believe is her very narrow definition of feminism, a vision of me — as I explained to her — that not only doesn’t fit me at all but was never the subject of any of the consciousness-raising sessions that I attended.

It is true that in those sessions, we discussed the implications for our own hearts, minds and livelihoods of being almost always the object and rarely the subject. Unlike Taryn, we rejected the idea that women really hold all the power; we just don’t know how to use it.

Without being dismissive in any way of Taryn’s pov, reality is that even women living in New York in the late ’60s couldn’t legally book a hotel room in their own name. They did, of course, with hotel keepers looking the other way, but the act was illegal.

Natural Submission of Women

Sex in Nature AOC Apple Valley

2) It is true that I and most feminists uncategorically rejected the concept of the “natural submission of women”. Not only is this theory not true in much of the natural world where females dominate the decision of whether or not to reproduce, but embracing it asks too much of my rational mind.

In the same way that I reject the most binding of monotheism’s patriarchal, strict governance of female virtue, I reject Taryn’s theoretical embrace of the natural submission of women. (Note that Taryn clarified in private conversations that she does see women as leaders in business or as religious leaders. I am admittedly confused by how she reconciles submission to men with taming them at the same time, because the historical record on men’s treatment of women is so clear. We’ve submitted for thousands of years, so how we use our submission to make the world a better place is beyond me.)

Unfortunately, this philosophical rejection of female power and influence has been used against us not only by the religious authorities on every continent, and by the lies of social conservatives in America. Now American feminists find ourselves on the defensive against talented, artistic, articulate young women like Taryn.

Rihanna Strikes Back | Video & Excerpts of Rolling Stone Interview

Rihanna stirs up lots of conversation in her Rolling Stone interview, particularly when she talks about her love life, her relationship with her father and the physical abuse she suffered from former boyfriend Chris Brown.

In the months after Chris Brown brutalized her, Rihanna admits: ‘I put my guard up so hard. I didn’t want people to see me cry. I didn’t want people to feel bad for me. It was a very vulnerable time in my life, and I refused to let that be the image.’

Speaking of her own tendency to be masochistic, Rihanna talks about her love-hate relationship with the media: “When I think about it, I really do take some pleasure in the negativity. I don’t want to say I’m turned on by it — but I’m turned on by it.”

Dorothea Barth Jörgensen | Hugh Lippe | 'The London Hang-up' | Exit Feb 2011

Swedish beauty Dorothea Barth Jorgensen expresses the many dimensions of contemporary female sexuality in this unconventional fashion editorial ‘The London Hangup’ lensed by Hugh Lippe for Exit Magazine. Styling by Farah Pidgeon; makeup Kristin Gallegos; hair by Jeff Francis.

These images cause me to reflect on the popularity of our forniphilia articles. For the uninitiated, forniphilia is an extreme form of bondage in which the subject is not only tightly bound, but used as furniture. The submissive — almost always a woman — is often gagged and sometimes placed in a position where she could be smothered.
