Rabbi Shmuley Boteach Is Devoted to Fixing the American Male

I’m reading “The Kosher Sutra: 8 Sacred Secrets for Reigniting Desire and Restoring Passion for Life”, by Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, who promotes himself as ‘America’s Rabbi” and Newsweek’s #7 most influential rabbi in the U.S..

Turning the pages, I said to myself: “Hmmm, women will love this book. Men are what’s wrong with everything.”

I don’t happen to share this viewpoint, but let me finish this very breezy but thought-provoking book before commenting further. Confirming my gender-based observation, Shmuley Beteach’s latest book is “The Broken American Male and How to Fix Him”.

Rabbi Boteach concludes his book with a focus on tantra sex, which is my new focus as well. Being a novice on this subject, I’m intrigued with the concept of uniting feminine and masculine principles in a ‘sexually ecstatic experience.’ This is the goal of Tantra and, according to Boteach, a primary teaching of the Kabbalah.

America’s rabbi surprised me with one of his opening remarks in “The Kosher Sutra: 8 Sacred Secrets for Reigniting Desire and Restoring Passion for Life”, asserting that sex, according to the Bible, “is the highest form of knowledge.”

My current focus on religion’s role in pleasure and guilt, especially among women, caused me to linger over this (alleged but obviously true) Biblical teaching.
