Madonna: Everything Mrs. Robinson Wanted To Be

Madonna and Luz at Marc Jacobs Sp 2010 Fashion ShowMadonna is buying Jesus Luz an apartment in his name, a hip abode that he will own. This is not the financial operating style of sugar daddies who typically retain ownership of the sweet thing’s apartment, in case the relationship doesn’t work out.

We’re not privy to the private legal paperwork between Madonna and Jesus, but Madonna’s sensibility suggests that the apartment gift truly may carry no strings.

The music steamroller, global philanthropist, Yummy Mummy Madonna may actually believe in the “don’t cage a bird, let him come back to you of free will” theory. I like that kind of adventurous love.

After all, Madonna remains irresistable to more people than the haters who wish she would go quietly into the night.

Robin Givhan’s 2008 article about Madonna,  Behold the Immaterial Girl reminded me of everything I don’t want to be as a writer.

Her rant on Madonna always riles me, whenever I stumble into it, as I just did. Why do women have a severe problem celebrating other women?

In Givhan’s playbook, Madonna:

• has gotten boring

• is a cliche

• is just another aerobicized pop singer with a cause

• appropriated her personas from artists and never actually invented herself

Madonna: Blame it on Rio, photographer Steven Klein, Wmagazine March 2009If ever there’s a woman who continues to invent herself, it’s Madonna. Eighteen months later, my favorite femme fatale is blazing through life, giving the haters new material for columns and comments. Unconscious jealousy is so not pretty.

Speed is not the sign of a well-lived life, but I love the fact that Madonna is still on the move: visible, content, sexy, in charge, self-realized and walking her own talk.

via The Fab Life|TFL ScandalistExcuse me. I also like the fact that she drinks martinis.

Is Madonna the ultimate Mrs. Robinson or what!

In attitude only, we should say. Mrs. Robinson wasn’t in a position to buy Benjamin a $2 milion apartment of his very own. And no matter what Givhan says, Madonna is not coming apart at the seams. I don’t believe very many 25-year-old women can even stand near her, without being overshadowed.

Love the woman!  Anne

After I saw her on the Letterman Show I thought exactly the same: she's the new Mrs. Robinson!
