Anne Hears Lubna Hussein's Call for a New Breed of International Arms Agents

Lubna Ahmed Hussein was spared the lash in Khartoum yesterday, escaping the fate that came to 43,000 other women in Khartoum last year, because they offended Sudan’s men-only morality police.

Anne bares her arms in support of Lubna Ahmed Hussein

As Cutural Creative globalists, we all rejoice that she was not subjected to the humiliation of being flogged.

Lubna Ahmed Hussein also went to jail last night, before being released today, her fine paid by her fellow journalists. Lubna wanted to serve her entire sentence, but she has already ignited an international movement of sister ‘prostitutes’ like myself, and their moxie-girl admirers, the men of Anne of Carversvile.

Imagine if Sudanese officials left Lubna in prison for a month, given the maelstrom she has already stirred up.

When a woman prints invitations to her flogging and sends them to 500 journalists, the patriarchy has a big problem on its hands. And of course, American envoy Scott Gration arrives tomorrow in Khartoum. It would not be a tidy situation at all.

Anne of Carversville has been deeply involved in the Lubna Hussein case from the beginning.

Besides being ‘prostitutes’ for wearing pants — as men screamed at Lubna yesterday — women are often considered to be ‘prostitutes’, just for baring our arms.

I had my own encounter with the morality police in Park Slope, Brooklyn, two weeks ago, wearing a knit halter dress, covering my knees and with a flared skirt, no cleavage.

My arms were objectionable to the man who demanded that I go to the mosque, learning how to dress properly. We all know that America is obsessed with body parts. The affliction is even worse in other parts of the world.

I can honestly say that in all my years in New York, an Orthodox Jew never yelled at me. But I know he does not approve of my bare arms either. And I just learned that orthod Jewish law doesn’t permit a man to hear a woman’s voice singing.

Women are all sirens, you know.

In a weird twist of fate, Michelle Obama’s arms are front and center again, with her trainer giving an interview to Women’s Health Magazine.

At first I was crabby about another “Michelle arms” story, but now I’m running with it. There’s a lot of heavy lifting to do, getting out of this global disaster we face. The story is not a fluff piece but about Smart Sensuality health and fitness.

Trouser-girl Lubna Ahmed Hussein has issued a “call to arms” that is heard around the world, and I have responded, baring my own arm to support her. I wrote this morning that this Team Lubna is not about bullets: Shakira & Lubna Inspire Smart Sensuality, Smarty Pants Types Saving Mother Earth, Vanilla Version.

Michelle Obama’s Smart Sensuality armsAs Howard Buffett says, it really may be too late for much of the world. Let us pray that Howard Buffett’s words do not come true, because if he’s right, we’re all going down together. The world will self-destruct, motivated for a couple thousand years by male, patriarchal principles.

I do not offend. We’re sensing that men may comprise more than 50% of our traffic, but they are men who agree with me and other “trouser girls” with moxie. This is not a divide-genders initiative. But it will be run on feminine principles.

Most days, I stay out of Cultural Creatives with women’s news, because we cover it in Smart Sensuality Women and International Women’s News. Today I had to barge in here, and speak with you for a moment.

There is no more important initiative for saving the planet, than empowering the world’s women. the initiative is tightly woven with the environmental values that many of you hold dear.

As a Cultural Creative, you already embrace a holistic approach to living, one based on female principles.

For women, we must move beyond being body parts. I know that you do not regard us that way — male or female.  But being an astute businesswoman, I’m covering all my bases, sharing news of Lubna’s release and our increasingly well-defined mission at Anne of Carversvile.

Much love, Anne
