Michele Bachmann: God Says Women Are To Submit to Men | Rev Roy Bourgeois Dismissed Over Women Priests

Boys Club | RedTracker

Order Dismisses a Priest Trying to Ordain Women NYTimes

As anticipated and reported recently, the Rev Roy Bourgeois, who has refused to renounce his very public campaign to ordain Catholic women as priests, has been notified of his dismissal from the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers. The reason given is his ‘defiant stance’ in opposition to church teaching.

The group Roman Catholic Womenpriests has ordained 120 women as priests and 10 as bishops in the last few years.

“They want two words: I recant,” Father Bourgeois said. “And they can’t get that out of me. For me, the real scandal is the message we are sending to women: you’re not equal, you cannot be priests, you’re not worthy.”

The case now moves to the Vatican for his expected formal removal from the priesthood. See also Bridget Mary’s Blog for frequently updated info about movement for Roman Catholic women priests and also Association of Roman Catholic Women Priests.

Michele Bachmann: Tea Party Queen for America Newsweek via The Daily Beast

Christian evangelist Michele Bachmann is on track to win the Iowa Straw Poll on Aug. 13, giving more momentum to her presidential candidacy.

Married in 1979, Bachmann raised five children in Stillwater, Minn., and eventually fostered 23 kids. She has said her husband directed her to study tax law, and she obliged because “the Lord says: be submissive, wives; you are to be submissive to your husbands.” Asked about her choice of words, she explains, “That means that I respect my husband, and he respects me.” But in a Bachmann White House, she adds, “I would be the decision maker.”

There is NO way that Michele Bachmann will say ‘no’ to God, whether he’s directing her via the Vatican or the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her claim of operating with an independent mind is just prepostrous given her statements.

It is for the American people to decide if men and God should be in charge of the country and women, once and for all. But for Michele Bachmann to claim that as president, she would be an independent decision-maker is poppycock. Anne

Tough Times at the Newsstand

In the first half of 2011, circulation at US fashion and style magazines was down 9.2 percent. Time Inc.’s InStyle, down 8 percent for the period, remains the leader at the newsstand, selling an average of 570,272 copies, according to Audit Bureau of Circulations.

Allure was flat and only Vogue was up 12.7 percent. Today we read that increase represents not so much a long-term business cycle but Lady Gaga’s appearance on the March 2011 issue, sending newsstand sales up 100,000 over the March 2010 issue featuring Tina Fey.

People StyleWatch, traditionally a strong newsstand performer, faltered like almost everyone else, falling 11.8 percent to 504,504 copies in the first six months.

Fighting Cleavage Wrinkles NYTimes

Irene Komsky invented the Intimia Pillow, which seeks to prevent cleavage wrinkles. Heidi Schumann for The New York TimesGenerously-endowed women — whether naturally or surgically — tend to be more afflicted by cleavage wrinkles, writes today’s NYT. As collagen in the skin breaks down, cleavage wrinkles are deep and can linger longer with age and sun exposure.

High-compression sports bras also promote cleavage wrinkles. From injections to a variety of sleeping aids to keep breasts in place, today’s women see no reason why cleavage wrinkles are a beauty must have.

“I don’t feel uncomfortable in a low-neck blouse anymore,” one woman said. “At a certain age, you see many women wearing camisoles under their V-necks to hide these wrinkles. I didn’t want to do that.”

But how big a problem cleavage wrinkles are might also come down to perspective. As one flat-chested woman put it: “Some people would be so happy to have cleavage that they would never think to complain about the wrinkles that accompanied them.”
