Ann Romney is the one Dems fear most, writes PoliticoBattle of the Political Babes

It seems that the 2012 will see two babes — Michelle Obama and Ann Romney — fighting for the women’s vote. Politico writes that the Obama campaign takes Ann Romney’s rock star status very seriously, regarding her as a “skilled and articulate advocate whose full power has yet to be unleased.”

Ann Romney is currently targeting women around America, trying to convey — what? That her husband didn’t swing hard right? That Mitt Romney didn’t promise to kill Planned Parenthood? That Romney didn’t take the a fertilized egg doesn’t have personhood status with rights equal to the a grown woman with three kids and a happy husband?

Indeed Ann Romney is charming, vibrant and an enormously appealing, competent woman with a serious brain. But we’re talking some of the most onerous legislation ever forced down the throats of American women and her husband only says he doesn’t want to talk about birth control. That’s hardly pushback against social conservatives who want birth control banned.

Michelle Obama @25th Kids’ Choice Awards

Michelle Obama honors Taylor Swift with Nickelodeon’s Big Help Award, Saturday night saying:

“It is my great privilege to present Nickelodeon’s Big Help Award to someone who has rocketed to the top of the music industry but still keeps her feet on the ground, someone who has shattered every expectation of what a 22-year old can accomplish.” via New York Magazine

UNITE Against The

War on Women 4.28.12

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Unite Women has been officially endorsed by the American Association of University Women (AAUW). We are working out the details of combining efforts and their involvement specifically with our Unite Women-Campus Organizing Group. Just to give you an idea of what this means - the AAUW has a membership of 100,000+ members so this is a huge deal for the Campus Organizing Group. Thanks to Karen Teegarden and the team in D.C. last week who facilitated the wheels in motion to make this happen. Once again another major turning point for Unite Women, specifically for the Campus Organizing Group.

Anne Enke, media liaison and organizational outreach for the PA will work with AAUW PA for our endorsement of April 28 Unite Against the War on Women Rally in Harrisburg.

PA NOW’s Julia Ramsey Joins Harrisburg Rally

The founder of Anne of Carversville is proud to follow last week’s National Now endorsement with her own PA NOW endorsement and an enthusiastic call to action by PA NOW president Julia Ramsey.

We are joining in the Unite rally to say, ‘WE’VE HAD ENOUGH! This War on Women’s Rights must stop NOW!’  We are calling on anyone interested in fighting this war to become a member of Pennsylvania NOW at http://panow.org/pages/members.htm and then join us to speak out against federal and state attacks on women.  These acts of war include attempts to reduce and, in some instances, eliminate all domestic violence and sexual assault programs, education funding, abortion and contraceptive services, and Social Security.  In addition, women’s economic security is essential to our family security.  Cutting programs such as food stamps, General Assistance, public education from kindergarten through college, and reducing or eliminating access to health care threatens this security and is part of this War on Women.   Attempts to cut Social Security and privatizing Medicare are also part of this war.

Speak out NOW!  Join us on April 28th from 10 am to 2 pm in Harrisburg, PA and support the Unite Against the War on Women Rally.  See you there.”

We encourage all our Pennsylvania friends to join us in Harrisburg where Julia Ramsey will join former Naral president Kate Michelman, PA State Sen. Daylin Leach and a growing list of PA leaders who are gathering to speak out for women in our state and across America. More announcements tomorrow.
