Sexy Mangoes Attack Breast & Colon Cancer Cells

An ongoing theme at Love Potions is the conviction that sexy foods are good for you.

On a weekly basis, a food considered to be an aphrodisiac — whether visually sensual in shape, color or smell, a sexual wellness food that promotes good circulation, or a food known to actually activate libido — is suddenly making major health news.

Takeaway: you can have both. Eat healthy and you’re taking a major step to feeling sexy, because your body is in fine form. Beyond the health basics,if sensual food photography inspires you — creating a tingle or two —  then you’re cruisin’ with mind and body in sync.

There’s nothing better in the bedroom than creative imagination. Mangoes are allowed.

I can wax poetically about sensations of mango juice running off my chin, or share the fact that mango supplements are taken all over SE Asia to increase virility. For centuries sensual folklore where breast-shaped mangoes produce highly-effective, vitality-sustaining Love Potions juices.

What if mangoes are a godsend? Let’s get real. Sexy people get breast cancer, for example. And total studmuffins get colon cancer.

On this subject — cancer — today’s mango research is amazing!

Texas AgriLife Research labs confirms mangoes as a cancer-fighting agent for breast and colon cancer cells.

Champagne: Healthy for Mind, Body and Libido

On the last day of this dreadful year 2009, we have another reason to lift a glass of champagne.

via Flickr’s viking 79We know that bubbly make us relaxed — translate that as less stressed, ladies. Because it’s a symbol of celebration and joy, the placebo effect is in play. Especially with women, if we believe we will be feeling joyful, our moods generally improve.

Two glasses of champagne will lower inhibitions but not cause us to go crazy with lust. More can actually kill sex drive, erections and ability to orgasm — which is the case with all alcohol.

via Michaelab311Thanks to the fizz of champagne bubbles, a glass of Veuve Cliquot envelopes you in warm embrace.

Her effervescence (is there any doubt that champagne is female?) renders a woman even more captivating if her shoulders are bare. At least this is my personal experience drinking champagne.

Marilyn Monroe drank champagne, a fact that also inspires me.

As for supermodels, I’m not one, but bubbly is their drink of choice, too.

Upstate Absinthe Makes Manhattan Memorable

The NYTimes story of Cheryl Lins’ journey from a yurt in New Mexico to New York State distiller of 136 proof absinthe or “green fairy”, made from fennel, anise, hyssop, lemon balm, lemon thyme and (quite unusual) violet spreads its tenacles throughout the website.

Cheryl Lins is the first distiller of absinthe in New YorkIn Dolce Vita, Ms. Lins takes the slow, old world hands on route, stirring her absinthe potions using the best organic products and fresh well water. A pot of intensely fragrant, chlorophyll-rich herb soup sat on a hot plate. She will add this mossy green broth to the final blend, turning the spirit the color of sea foam. “I wish I could capture more of this fragrance,” she said. “Have to figure that out one day.” Was she joking? Her absinthes are as brightly aromatic as a fresh cut lemon.

Featuring her in Smart Sensuality, we give her high marks not only for controlling every detail of her rustic operation but for also having moxie, when dealing with funding instiutions.

via Delaware Phoenic Distillery websiteMs. Lins saw an opportunity. to finance her business after New York’s Delaware County floods in 2006. She sleuthed her way through the paper push of federal licensing and labeling, only to hit the wall with New York Stat’s bureaucracy. By January 2009, she had not heard a word about the application she filed the previous September.

OK, so she cried but her tears fell on a nastygram, sent to Albany, New York’s state capital.

Coca Cola Does Not Deliver Big O Happiness in a Can

http://bit.ly/4xXTLa

Coca Cola is guilty of premature ejaculation.

Like a guy who can’t keep it up for long, Coke promises a big happy fantasy, tantalizes you with visions of joyful nirvana but loses it, just when you’re reaching peak pleasure. It’s a guy thing.

via Flickr’s isayx3Knowing that America is the fattest country in the world; and knowing how obesity affects not only self-esteem but our sexuality; and knowing also how worthless is the sugar in Coke, Pepsi and other sugar- rich drinks, I said just now “God bless you, Coke. Reducing the size of your can will NOT make Americans happy.”

This pink message from Coke was in my email box, an early morning, sensual seduction from an American icon. It got me thinking.

Consider the guy who promises you the world, sexually-speaking, but never delivers the goods when you’re just ready to achieve sexual bliss. Coke is like that guy.

Technically speaking, the sugar rush in Coke will elevate my dopamine production, stimulating the pleasure centers of my brain.

If all I want is a “quickie” rush of pleasure, Coke will deliver — but not the full monty.

J'Adore: Simply Marvelous Macarons

Yes, I adore macarons and especially ones from Paris. My favorite is pistachio — or perhaps it was until today.

Newsweek’s Budget Travel features this magnificent Pierre Hermé macaron. Stupefying is the adjective, and it seems appropriate for this combination called ispahan, a combination of rose petal cream with fresh litchis and whole raspberries between two rose-flavored macaron cookies.

The blog post visits Dorie Greenspan, Behind the Scenes at Pierre Hermé, for another visual extravaganza.

Wait a minute! Before you go, you simply must click onto this most extravagant ever visual macaron extraveganza. Never have I seen such a sensual sweet feast for our eyes on Flickr.

Here’s just a hint of what’s to come on this grandiose photographic presentation of macarons and macaroons. Enjoy! You will smile, I promise you. Lovely. Anne

Irving Penn's Lobster & Squid Food Photography As Sensual Aphrodisiac

Does Irving Penn’s photograph of lobster activate our hunger for eating it? Or are Penn’s gourmet visual images so stunningly and sensually satisfying that our appetite is satiated and hunger gone for now?

Am I depraved hedonist, looking that these Irving Penn photos and seeing them erotic culinary, deep-sea pearls of the unconscious mind? Did Mr. Penn play with our libidos in a casual cat and mouse game of sensual Love Potions teasing?

My journal post Irving Penn: Sensual Master left me wanting more exploration of how America suppresses our senses — unlike the French, Italians and Brazilians, a partial list of countries where a broader range of accepted sensual appetites results in definitely smaller bodies.

Having spend years of my life in France and Italy, I never felt that these women used food as substitutes for enjoying life, as American women do.

Until this moment, I haven’t put sensual food photographs in Love Potions, except to share the recipes. But staring at this Irving Penn still life composite of luscious, succulent food, I’m further convinced of the positive connection between food as aphrodisiac, positive sexuality and good health.

Breakfast Couscous with Libido Benefits

Since writing about my Love Potions Salads this summer, I’ve become addicted to fruit and nut combos every day. Watch the calories — I’ve been known to make mini bags.

Fruits and nuts go in fresh fruit salad with yoghurt and Love Potion Couscous, too. I confess, that as much as I love all things Moroccan, I never considered eating coucous for breakfast. Why not? Take out the organic Honey-Os and replace with couscous.

via Flickr’s These Days in French LifeBreakfast cousous is an aphrodisiac dream: honey, currants or raising, cinnamon, oranges, dates and apricots. Science first on the apricots, which I’ve not written about previously: A single serving of fresh apricots provides over 50% of your daily intake of beta-carotene, a potent antioxidant Apricots are also a good source of iron, a key nutrient to enhance fertility in women.

Please wander over to the NYTimes to read the entire recipe for making breakfast couscous.

With minor modifications, it will be a Love Potion Salad before you know it.

In fact on those days when you really want to keep things simple, start the day and end it, too, with this sinfully healthy, good for soul and body couscous.

I know I sound stuck on apricots, which is only one ingredient in this dream team, lovey-dovey breakfast salad. Apricot oil is fabulously good for your skin, too.
