The Biz | Gucci Launches New Documentary Award | Guess & Joffrey Ballet School

Gucci Girl Power

Gucci continues their commitment to international women’s issues by launching a new documentary film award for film-makers highlighting the lives of women. The luxury label has teamed up with owners PPR’s Corporate Foundation for Women’s Dignity and Rights, to create the Spotlighting Women’s Documentary Award for films exploring remarkable and inspiring women’s stories on a number of hard-hitting subjects.

We admire and support Gucci’s Smart Sensuality positioning: Sexy+Smart with Heart.

Vogue UK reports the winner will be given a prize of $50,000 (£30,900). Gucci first showed its support for the film industry in 2009, when it launched the Gucci TriBeCa Documentary Fund, aimed at helping independent film-makers raise funds for important films.

Mellon, who owned a 17% stake, is considered the go-go vision behind the current rise of Jimmy Choo.

Jimmy Choo reported net sales of about £150m in 2010 from a worldwide retail base that expanded to 120 units and a growing product lineup that now includes accessories, jewellery and fragrance.

Joffrey Ballet Students Turn Guess Window Models for a Night Fashionista

A benefit for the Joffrey Ballet School, held in partnership with Harper’s Bazaar, at the Guess store in Soho drew additional customers by putting students in the window.

Guests donated 20% of their purchse, with a minimum of $5 to the school.

It is true that ballet is a big influence on fashion today.
