Louis Vuitton Honey Bees | Kate Scott Photography Parfait | Meliá Hotels & Resorts Life Management

GreenBeings

City Sweets from Louis Vuitton

In 2009 Louis Vuitton installed three bee hives on the roof of its headquarters, attracting as many as 200,000 bees. This year, the luxury brand will celebrate their first honey harvest from these “Belle Jardinière” hives. The label bears the French fashion house’s signature symbols and reads “Produit a Paris par Louis Vuitton” (produced in Paris by Louis Vuitton).

The honey — not available for purchase — will be given to friends, colleagues and good clients. via Pursuitist

‘Parfait’ | Posy of Roses Vogue Italia’s Photo Vogue

‘Parfait’ by Kate ScottI first discovered Kate Scott’s photography in June, posting it on Sensuality News Curves Ahead.

In case there was any doubt, Kate Scott is not a one-trick pony. These new images — above on Vogue Italia and below on Kate’s blog — convey her extraordinary capacity to communicate beauty, meaning and sensuality through flowers. Simply stated, I am addicted!!! Anne

Jonathan Drori: The beautiful tricks of flowers TED.com

In this visually dazzling talk, Jonathan Drori shows the extraordinary ways flowering plants — over a quarter million species — have evolved to attract insects to spread their pollen: growing ‘landing-strips’ to guide the insects in, shining in ultraviolet, building elaborate traps, and even mimicking other insects in heat.

For Stressed Bees, the Glass Is Half Empty Science Daily

“What we have shown is that when a honeybee is subjected to a manipulation of its state that in humans would induce a feeling of anxiety, the bees show a similar suite of changes in physiology, cognition, and behavior to those we would measure in an anxious human,” (Geraldine) Wright (of Newcastle University) said. “In terms of what we are able to measure, a shaken honeybees is no less ‘anxious’ than a lonely dog or a rat in a barren cage.”
