Laura Ponte as Frida Kahlo | Iris Brosch | L'Officiel
Mexican artist Frida Kahlo is a great inspiration to Anne of Carversville readers and me personally.
If you asked me to name my favorite fashion editorials, Iris Brosch’s 1998 photoshoot of Laura Ponte for Officiel is at the top of the list.
We have a chance to revisit Kahlo today, with Karl Lagerfeld’s interpretation of Frida Kahlo, photographing Claudia Schiffer for German Vogue.
The first set of Laura Ponte photos is here: Laura Ponte as Frida Kahlo, photographed by Iris Brosch.
Now I will fill in the series, so you can compare Brosch’s photos with Lagerfeld’s vision of Kahlo. His is darker and noticeably more Germanic than Brosch’s, which is painterly, brighter, more sensual and closely resembling Kahlo’s actual work. All photos from foto_decadent.
