New York | Eating Outdoors

Alfresco, All the Time NY Magazine

Chef John Fraser’s pop-up restaurant ‘What Happens When’ is one of a slew of New York outdoor eating spots for snacks or a full course meal, all called out by NY Magazine.

List also includes: Bierkraft, La Birreria, The Trilby, Mulberry Project, David Burke Garden at the James New York, Pizza Roma, Riverpark, Van Horn Sandwich Shop, Edi & the Wolf, Bar Basque, La Terrazza at Lincoln, The Mussel Pot, Stivale, and The Mark Restaurant.

Hotel ‘Camping’ in Berlin

The Hüttenpalast in Berlin is a superbly original, sustainable-friendly hotel concept created by Silke Lorenzen and Sarah Vollmer. Renovated old campsite caravans are housed in a former vacuum-cleaner factory and are each available to stay in for the night. via

British Blooms | Topshop Secret Store

Topshop has a new initiative they’re calling Secret Store, with locations in New York and Oxford Circus in London. Topshop seeks to feature their boutique and collaboration pieces in a mass retail establishment that is ‘off the beaten path’.

One of our favorite flower shops, London’s Nikki Tibbles Wild at Heart (now you know why we love it) is working with London designers Meadham Kirchoff in launching the pop ups.London opens on Thursday May 26.

From the Wild at Heart website

’A real opportunity to offer some truly unique and quirky flowers and plants in customised containers that have been personally sourced by Ben, Edward and Nikki. It has been an incredibly exciting creative process visiting the flower market together and sourcing all manner of objects from plastic grapes to clown heads! Visit us at the ‘Secret Store’ in Top Shop from next Thursday. Why not ask our florist to make your very own bespoke flower bouquet!’

Let There Be Light

Kartell Bloom Light This amazing floral light display is the elliptical version of the Kartell Bloom Light, designed by Ferrucucio Laviani, who also made the Bourgie Lamp.

Bloom is made from tiny polycarbonate flowers - as pure and precious as crystal but without the hefty price tag! The effect is a lamp which, although produced industrially, has the appearance and complexity of a hand crafted design. A series of tiny lights are located within the skeletal structure which beam light shafts through the petals to refract on the faceted surfaces of the petals and multiply a thousand reflections. via Utility UK
