GlamTribale Jewelry Captures Fall 2012 Botanica Erotica Trend

Fall 2012 Eroticism Embraces Flowers at Nina Ricci

Flowers, fauna and Mother Nature accompanied by model Kati Nescher star in Nina Ricci’s Fall/Winter 2012/13 campaign, lensed by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. Front and center are the new La Rue handbags made of alligator skin — a product objectionable to some AOC readers.

Nescher faces off against the contrasting botanical watercolor painting illustrated by artist Jo Ratcliffe.

Exotic Nature @ Florabotanica

The eroticism of nature makes any play for attention in Balenciaga’s new fragrance Florabotanica, due out in September.  Aimed at a younger audience than Balenciaga Paris, the scent was created by perfumers Oliver Polge and Jean-Christophe Hérault, who worked in collaboration with Balenciaga’s designer Nicolas Ghesquière.

Kristen Stewart is the face of Florabotanica, because she embodies the modernity of the scent with her unique sensibility and intelligence. The campaign is photographed by Steven Meisel.

Cleve West’s Brewin Dolphin Garden @ Chelsea Flower Show

Image by Martin PopeInnocence is deceiving writes The Financial Times about this year’s winner of top garden at the Chelsea Flower Show. Brewin Dolphin’s garden by Cleve West is designed in the arts and crafts tradition and features yew topiary, flame-shaped finials and ornate ironwork gates softened by informal planting.

Looks are deceptive, writes Jane Owen, comparing this year’s top garden winner to 18th-century garden maker Sir Francis Dashwood of Hellfire Club fame.

Dashwood’s Venus garden, an hour west of London at West Wycombe, was restored in the 1980s to reveal its original form. A turfed mound – the mount of Venus – with paths running down either side to represent legs akimbo. At the base of the mount an oval hole opens on to a cavity. For the hard of thinking, a flint pillar once stood in front of the opening, and a statue of Mercury, the 18th-century “cure” for syphilis still stands above it. Venus de Medici stands on top of her mount.

This year’s Chelsea winner lacks a formal Venus but it has an oval opening (a stone well head) which was referred to as “the vagina monolith’ by Chelsea Show observers.

Perhaps taking their cue from America’s trend of banishing elected women legislators from the floor of Congress for using the word ‘vagina’ — we reference the debacle of Michigan new laws to control the private parts of its women citizens — Brewin Dolphin’s garden by Cleve West is sensually circumspect.

Anne Enke’s Glam Tribale Jewelry

I’m thrilled to say that we will debut my new GlamTribale collection of nature-inspired jewelry on July 22 at the Lancaster, Pa Food & Spirits Festival, open from 2-6 pm at the Lancaster County Convention Center. We’ve chosen to debut GlamTribale in Lancaster because PA’s 16th Congressional district is one of the most beautiful in America.

Lancaster’s also home to PA 16th’s Rep. Joe Pitts, who chairs the US House of Representatives subcomittee on women’s health. Pitts is leading a drive to make the Constitutional rights of fertilized eggs equal to those of living breathing women. He is also the author of HR 358, the Protect Life Act aka the “Let Women Die’ Bill’.

Our GlamTrabale online store will open in days. Stay tuned.
