J'Adore: The Regent Hotel in Taipei

Working on a J’Adore about Dubai, I stumbled into this marvelous photostream of city views, with wonderful annotations about luxury hotel rooms around the world. Ah … the memories.

One night I was in Taipei and I woke up at 3am, with absolutely no idea where I was … in the world. It was the strangest feeling. I didn’t want to turn on the light, for fear that I would never get back to sleep. I picked up the phone, dialing the operator.

“Excuse me, but where am I?” I asked.

“The Regent Hotel”, she replied.

“No, no,” I replied. “LIke what continent am I on? Where am I … Malaysia, China? Truthfully, I have no recollection.”“

Nightscene of the hotel’s entrance and Taipei Fashion Square with its well-lit water feature. “Madam, you are in the Grand Formosa Regent Taipei.”

“Ah yes, right. I’m in Taipei. Thank you. I feel so much better; that was scarry. I can sleep now. Good night.”

This is the life of a road warrior.

Looking through this amazing set of skyline photos, I read Mr. Yeung’s comments with a smile. I feel the same way about my years travelling internationally 50% of my time.

He writes: “My most favourite hotel rooms with views that I’m lucky enough to have stayed”. I always felt the same way … yes, I worked really hard and eventually went into a zone beyond jet lag. Yet, it was a state of exhiliarating exhaustion. As I’ve told you … all it took was hearing the song “Rhapsody in Blue”, and I was ready to get onboard one more time.

Room 3306: Sheikh Zayed skyline, Dubai Enjoy this excellent photolog of superb views in the exciting cities of Asia. I’ve set the second photo to slide show. Thanks Mr. Yeung. Next stop … Dubai.

Love,
Anne
