Wandering Into Behance Network

Flying through Ffffound this afternoon — a totally neurotic action when I was looking for “sexy figs”, after deciding that I’m bored with our traditional Christmas chicken recipe (though it’s wonderful) — I was stopped dead on my digital skateboard by these whimsical photos.

The Teapot, illustration made for AtutiplenI believe in the power of words, but visuals just send me into rapture.

People always tell me that I’m very funny, but my humor quotient is very subtle. Everybody’s laughing but me, a situation that sets off another round of sympathetic, patronizing smiles from my friends.

When I see photos like these, from the Atutplen portfolio on the Behance Network, I smile ear to ear. I adore gorgeous whimsy of every kind. I say and write that I don’t like stupidity, but if you render stupidity beautifully, I will probably love it.

Imagination is such a precious asset, and it’s so important that we cultivate it.

USB Milk, illustration made for AtutiplenIn a nutshell, Behance Network is an online presentation website for creative professionals.

For people like us, Behance is a trip to an inspiring, online art gallery. Commercial artists of every type are featured. I don’t believe that inclusion is juried, but the quality of content is outstanding, if you browse around.

Let’s move to photography, this time the portfolio of Bazaars and work of Rengim Mutevellioglu. Awesome, right! When did I ever use the word “awesome” at A of C.

Behance Network Bazaars, Rengim MutevelliogluSubconsciously, the photographer’s eye captures light and dark combinations, with a masterful, painterly eye.

Because the photos are so large — and I’m viewing them on a 17” monitor as well — viewing the Behance Network collections is absolutely like a trip to an art gallery.

Behance Network Bazaars, Rengim MutevelliogluThe presentation of photos is also so easy to navigate, with a large number running down the page. What one loses in tiny, hard-to-view thumbnails, you gain in fast views of high-impact visuals. I imagine that Behance Network is challenging on a dialup connection, but given that 30% of our visitors are Mac folks, I know that we have a high-speed, creative audience on my website.

Enjoy, enjoy your creative voyage into Behance Network! A
