Kirsi Pyrhonen & Magdalena Jasek In 'Virgin McQueen' By Richard Burbridge For Dazed & Confused November 2013

Sarah Burton moves from Queen Bees to high church religion — a vision that also feels like Queen Elizabeth the 1st to us — in ‘Virgin McQueen’, lensed by Richard Burbridge for Dazed & Confused November 2013. The designer describes the AW13 Alexander McQueen collection : “It was presented like a religious journey — communion girls, nuns, cardinals, popes and angels.”

Burton’s ‘high’ church fall collection is a feast of “dizzing splendour”, a pearl-encrusted narrative with the look of haute-couture, modeled here by Kirsi Pyrhonen & Magdalena Jasek. Exhibiting her more feminine vision for McQueen, Burton used archetypal caged and corseted McQueen silhouettes and hoop skirts, now softened with ostrich feathers and virginal organdy lace.
