US Researchers Say Free Trade Initiatives Undermine Global Food Supply
GlobeTracker| Despite good intentions, ‘free trade’ initiatives have backfired in some of the world’s poorest countries, leading in recent years to food riots. In a Feb 15 report in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, a large group of scientists concluded that developed countries have unintentionally applied principles of developed countries that have put local populations at serious risk. via Science Daily
These findings aren’t a liberal plot.
Many first-world leaders, including Howard Buffett and Bill Gates, acknowledge that results aren’t what was expected, in terms of the ‘green revolution’ in the developing world.
