Trudie Styler & Environmental Activists Win Amazon Case Against Chevron | Texaco
GreenTracker| Texaco, which merged with Chevron in 2001, says it will appeal the ruling in an Ecuador court fining the oil giant $9 billion for polluting a significant part of the country’s Amazon region. Chevron is accused of dumping billions of gallons of toxic materials into unlined pits and Amazon rivers.
The lawsuit brought on behalf of 30,000 Ecuadoreans has already dragged on for nearly two decades.
