The Economist Says "No Deal" for Blair EU Presidency

Gordon Brown continued to push Mr. Blair, but French President Nicolas Sarkozy of France seemed to side with German chancellor Angela Merkel (always ambivalent about Bair), in agreement that the post of first president of the EU should go to a “mainland” representative.
