Sarah Palin's Term 'Blood Libel' Casts Her As Persecuted Jew

HopeTracker| We admit it. The term ‘blood libel’ sounded pretty fierce from Sarah Palin today, but we didn’t know the derivation of the term. The term ‘blood libel’ is all over the evening news. ABC News was one of the first to define it.

The term ‘blood libel’, used by Sarah Palin to describe websites like Anne of Carversville who want to tone down the call-to-action use of gun-related rhetoric used by today’s politicos — and specifically Palin’s use of crosshairs to target people she wants out of office —   is a direct reference to a time in history when European Christians blamed Jews for kidnapping and murdering Christian children for their blood.

Gun Love Press | Palin Accuses Critics of 'Blood Libel'

HopeTracker| Republican Tea Party leader Sarah Palin has accused critics of “blood libel” in suggesting that the tone of American politics, talk radio, her use of gun metaphors like “reload” or crosshairs on her targets of Congress members she wants replaced, contributes to a culture of violence in America. Her comments have been posted on her Facebook page. via Reuters

Specifically, Palin writes on her Facebook page:

As I said while campaigning for others last March in Arizona during a very heated primary race, “We know violence isn’t the answer. When we ‘take up our arms’, we’re talking about our vote.”

At least one noteworthy Republican ‘The View’ co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck — who campaigned with Palin in 2008 — labeled Palin’s map “purely despicable’ on March 25, 2010, writes The Washington Post.

Silly Fashionistas Beg Palin's Forgiveness | Sorry About the Antlers, Sarah | Don't Shoot!

Mama Grizzlie Sarah Palin is upset that we might think she likes violence.

“We’re not going to retreat; we’re going to reload,” said Mama Grizzlie #1 in New Orleans.

Critics say that we ‘liberals’ are ganging up on her for suggesting that Mrs. Palin loves gun analogies. Barbara Walters has come to Palin’s defense. Glenn Beck has also come to the defense of the top Mama Grizzlie.

Just for the record, we’re talking politics in general, not the massacre in Tucson. Reality is that we’re all stirred up on guns and violence today here in America.

Sarah Palin is a woman of peace. Glenn Beck is a man of peace.

Sorry, we gotta read the transcripts. Did Glenn Beck ever extol peace in his life? Seriously now. Ever?

“Sarah, as you know, peace is always the answer,” he (Glenn Beck) said he wrote in his email to her. “I know you’re feeling the same heat — if not much more — on this. I want you to know you have my support. But please look into protection for your family. An attempt on you could bring the republic down.” via WSJ

We doubt it, Glenn, and thanks for adding fuel to the fire. Bringing down the republic down is pretty damn dramatic.

'Sarah Palin's Alaska' | The Presidental Candidate Kills Her Caribou

HopeTracker| Sarah Palin kills her Caribou in what’s called an act of ‘ethical hunting’. Without debating the ethics of hunting and eating meat, the joy Sarah expresses in her kill is unsettling to us. Many soldiers express a similar adrenalin rush ‘in the kill’. Perhaps Sarah Palin knows more about what makes humanity tick than we give her credit for.

Frank Rich Says Republican Nomination Is Palin's If She Wants It

RedTracker| Frank Rich explains today that at a time when America’s elites, experts, system regulators and political leadership have failed utterly and totally in positioning America as a fiscally-solvent country with a national psyche prepared for 21st century success, Sarah Palin is positioned in a prime spot for a White House run.

Are American Moms Doomed To A Life Of Perfect Parenting?

RedTracker| Erica Jong wrote a pro-motherhood, anti-perfect parenting for today’s Wall Street Journal. Her essay comes weeks before French writer Elizabeth Badinter’s controversial tome about the oppressive nature of modern motherhood is published in English.

Anne weighs in from all angles, introducing her new lens for analysis of American feminism. The future, says Anne, is about the Mama Grizzlies and the Snake Charmers. Read on: Erica Jong | Sarah Palin | Elizabeth Badinter| Good Mothers Have Rights, Too.

Total Women in Congress Declines From 16.3% Representation

Women Senators, 2008RedTracker| Since Bonnie Goldstein wrote her Politics Daily post, Democratic incumbent Patty Murray has been declared the winner in Washington State. Republican incumbent Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski continues to await the results of her potentially successful write-in bid in Alaska. Senator Murkowski was dumped by Sarah Palin and the Tea Party crowd. Palin called her decision to run as an independent as ‘shameful’.

Election Night 'Mama Grizzlie' Roundup | Wins and Losses

Updated on Thu, November 4, 2010 by Registered CommenterAnne

HopeTracker| US Sen Lisa Murkowski’s write-in campaign to retain her Alaska Senate seat against Tea Party candidate Jole Miller may be working, although the result won’t be decided for some time.

With more than 78% of the precincts tallied, write-in votes — most presumably cast for Murkowski — were leading with 39.96%. Tea Party Express-backed Republican Joe Miller was trailing with 34.89%, while Democrat Scott McAdams had 24.15%, according to the LA Times.

Forbes Names Powerful Women in 2010 Midterm Elections

RedTracker| Forbes Woman compiles a list of the most powerful women of the 2010 Midterm elections, including pundits as well as politicians. As expected Sarah Palin is first, with First Lady Michelle-Obama second.

One very interesting point in their article concerns what happens to traditionally important women’s issues when two women are running against each other, like the Barbara Boer-Carly Fiorina race in California.

Sarah Palin Cites Conditions In Which She Would Run for President

RedTracker| Politico reports that former Alaska GOP Gov Sarah Palin gave her strongest indication yet that she is open to running for president, saying Wednesday night that she would jump into the race if “nobody else were to step up” with the proposals she wants to see.

Sarah Palin Goes Rogue on Oprah Nov. 16th

Updated on Sun, November 15, 2009 by Registered CommenterAnne

Updated on Wed, November 18, 2009 by Registered CommenterAnne

RedTracker| Sarah Palin has gone rogue. John Cain’s vice presidential candidate Palin will be on Oprah tomorrow, promoting her new book.

“Saturday Night Live’s” Tina Fey brought Sarah Palin back to life. We’re looking for the fantastic video.

Checking the dictionary, the definition of “rogue” is almost as morally-inferior as “sensuality”.

Rogue: vagrant, tramp; a dishonest or worthless person: scoundrel; a mischievous person: scamp; a horse inclined to shirk or misbehave; an individual exhibiting a chance and usually inferior biological variation.

Meanwhile, here’s a YouTube reader-generated video in honor of Palin and her “Going Rogue” book tour. Palin’s book at at the top of Amazon’s best-seller list, where conservative ideology books driving Fall 2009 book sales. There’s lots of talk about a Palin talkshow, as well as her future in politics.
