Trend Dots| The quickie news is that starting July 1, we can connect to Starbucks SiFi network for free. The interesting announcement made by Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz yesterday at the Wired Business Conference is that we can watch content only available at Starbucks.
Starbucks isn’t new to the content-provider business, selling its own CDs for years, but becoming an Internet content provider in partnership with Yahoo, fulfills Schultz’s earlier mission of becoming a content provider by recrating the American coffee house for the 21st century.
Starbucks will also provide free access to the Wall Street Journal’s subscription services — a fact that just got our attention. Read on at Wired: Starbucks Announces Free W-Fi, Proprietary Content Network.
