RedTracker| British scientists have developed a simple, inexpensive eye test that detects Alzheimer disease 20 years before symptoms. The test could become part of routine eye examinations within three years.
Light-sensitive cells in the retina at the back of the eye are a direct extension of the brain. Because evidence of brain degeneration is always obvious in Alzheimer patients, researchers believe that a positive link exists between detectable retina damage and a subsequent onset of Alzheimer’s disease. via Daily Mail UK
