Secy of State Clinton "Blasts" Arab Governments on Slow Reforms

Beyond the Veil | Speaking at the Forum for the Future in Doha, Qatar on January 13th, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton admonished Arab governments for corruption and stalled political reforms, warning that extremist groups were exploiting a lack of democratic development to promote radical agendas throughout the region.

The U.S. secretary of state added: “If leaders don’t offer a positive vision and give young people meaningful ways to contribute, others will fill the vacuum… Extremist elements, terrorist groups and others who would prey off desperation and poverty are already out there appealing for allegiance and competing for influence.”

Her trip was doinated by intensifying turmoil in key countries like Egypt, Tunisia and Lebanon. via WSJ
