Thanks to an unusual investigative effort by a Senate subcommittee that functioned more like a criminal investigation team, all Americans have a much better understanding — if they wish to read further — of the alleged lies of Goldman Sachs executives like Lloyd Blankfein and Daniel Sparks before Congress in April 2010.

Because of the investigation, Goldman’s dealings with its own clients have been laid bare and under the spotlight. Taibbi writes:

America has been waiting for a case to bring against Wall Street. Here it is, and the evidence has been gift-wrapped and left at the doorstep of federal prosecutors, evidence that doesn’t leave much doubt: Goldman Sachs should stand trial.
