Pope Proposes a New Global Financial Order

GlobeTracker| Pope Benedict has released Caritas in veritate (Charity in Truth), hours in advance of the G8 summit in Italy.

“Profit is useful if it serves as a means towards an end,” he writes in Caritas in veritate (Charity in Truth), but “once profit becomes the exclusive goal, if it is produced by improper means and without the common good as its ultimate end, it risks destroying wealth and creating poverty.”

It seems that Caritas in veritate, with its open discussion of redistribution of wealth and a good life for most of the world’s people, as opposed to just a few, is one of the most radical documents to emerge from the Vatican in decades.
