Organic Strawberries Higher Quality, Lower Environmental Impact

GreenTracker| Following the current TIME global cover story on organic food, Washington State researchers have released the most comprehensive comparison of organic and conventional strawberry farms. The detailed report found that organic farms produced more flavorful and nutritious berries while leaving the soil healthier and more genetically diverse.

The 13 conventional and 13 organic farms were all located in California, home to 90 percent of America’s strawberries. The study analyzed 31 chemical and biological soil perperties, soil DNA, and the taste, nutrition and quality of three strawberry varieties. via Science Daily

As a side note, the TIME story undermines earlier conclusions about the comparison between organic and conventional food, noting that the scope of nutritional comparisons was limited.

Thanks for this....It does not take a scientist to know that there is a difference between food that is grown naturally and food that is full of chemicals that are man made.....The FDA must think the public is extremely stupid, which most of the time we are. It is too bad they can affect the laws and what is available AND that they can be bribed so easily....ah for a little integrity in that organization and the people that work there... The organization is actually the people.. Oh well i guess i have to continue to pray over my food and give it Reiki.
