New York Update on Frank Gehry Ground Zero Arts Center

HopeTracker| New York Mayor says ‘not so fast’ on jubilation over a new performing arts center at Ground Zero. The center would be located near the northeastern corner of the World Trade Center site, at the extension of Fulton and Greenwich streets.

Bloomberg says he’s not clear that the city will be able to raise $300 million from private funds to cover its contribution to the last piece of Daniel Libeskind’s master plan for the redevelopment of the World Trade Center.

Nevertheless, the now-named Frank Gehry Ground Zero Arts Center received a $100 million allocation, announced in early October by the mayor and other New York State pols, using funds from post-9/11 federal funds reserved for the rebuilding of Manhattan infrastructure. To be continued …
