RedTracker| The US Navy will soon lift another restriction on women in the military, allowing female sailors to serva aboard submarines. The integration will likely be phased in and may come first with officers, since they already have separate quarters on a sub.
The Navy is saying little more about the plan, until the integration blueprint for the 70 submarines is complete. Any military officer on a submarine receives nuclear training for a year.
In another development not reported with the women in subs news, the Army says that it is seriously considering expanding women’s roles in combat assignments and will no longer be able to live with the efforts of certain (i.e.Conservative Republican) lawmakers to limit women’s roles in combat. Realistically, American female soldiers are often in combat-related situation, no matter what their title. via Christian Science Monitor
