Love to Eat| A large study of 47,000 women in Italy found that women, but not men, doubled their heart disease risk when eating a high glycemic diet containing bread, pizza and rice. Scientists don’t know what the risk applies to women and not men. Low GI carbs, such as pasta, weren’t affected. via BBC News
In an unrelated study researchers again confirmed the health benefits of a “Mediterranean diet” containing plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, low dairy and red meat, and lots of fish as a strong prevention against dementia.
Diets rich in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, vitamin E and folate but low in saturated fat and vitamin B12 appear to be best. via BBC News
