Letitia Long First Woman To Head US Spy Agency

RedTracker| Letitia ‘Tish’ Long become the first woman to head a major US intelligence agency, when she takes over this morning, as director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), the office responsible for collecting and analyzing overhead imagery and geospatial information.

Long spent the last four years as the deputy director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).

CNN reports that women have served as second-in-command in most of the major intelligence agencies. including the National Security Agency (NSA), the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and at NGA.

The third ranking position at the CIA agency is currently held by a woman, as is the person in charge of all of the CIA’s analysts. No woman has held the second slot.
