Kenneth Cole's Totally Tasteless, Money-Hungry Cairo Grab

Dots| Kenneth Cole’s tweet is one of the most callous marketing gestures ever. And we wonder why they hate us. I will never buy that brand again — not ever. I will add that if the person/agency worked for me, they would be fired on the spot, no questions asked. Anne via
Updated: Good God! Kenneth Cole himself tweeted this. I thought he was a good guy, but obviously I don’t know what I’m talking about. As I said, no clothing, fragrance, bag or shoes will ever be purchased again by me, when the brand name says Kenneth Cole. This insensitive pursuit of personal gain on the bloody backs of Egyptians fighting for human rights must be damned.

The fallout from Kenneth Cole’s stupid, callous, self-centered, narcissistic Tweet is intense. Canada’s The Globe and Mail writes Kenneth Cole learns the meaning of blowback.
Kenneth Cole has apologized but many are not so forgiving and talk of boycotting the brand.
KennethColePR sprang up immediately in what is a nightmare for any brand. Some Tweets:
Parents of Hiroshima — you’ll melt when you see our new kids collection!
People are looking at our sales girls in Chernobyl like they have three eyes. It’s just our markdowns!
Hey, Pope Benedict - there’s no way to fondle our spring shoes inappropriately.
Of course there are no gays in Iran, they’re all shopping at my new outlet in Dubai. Holla!
