Borisov of Bulgaria, ‘a thick-necked former karate instructor, body guard and one time fireman’ says the NYTimes.
Some politicos argue that promoting women is part of Bulgaria’s image overhaul, resulting from the country being the first to lose EU development funds for fear they would be co-opted by organized crime. Mr. Borisov asserts that women are his secret weapon in fighting lawlessness. “It’s hard to admit, but women are less corruptible than men and are cleaner,” he said. “Because they are more risk averse.”
