Why Fawn Over Imperious Fashion Designers When We Have Choices? AOC Body|Beauty|Culture
Former Vogue Homme designer and fashion photographer Hedi Slimane made news yesterday, telling WWD:
Nothing looks worse than a dress or a suit on a red carpet. It is an ongoing tragedy of cheap fashion on cheap celebrities, followed by ubercheap comments. I only like designers’ clothes on models. Good models have an inner understanding of the clothes and design.
We appreciate a person who speaks his/her own mind, and Slimane’s vision of physical perfection is as distilled as Karl Lagerfeld’s.
Anne’s point is that — instead of being little fashion lap dogs — why not support the designers who resonate with our own values and ignore those who don’t. Supermodel Cindy Crawford says this is how a smart consumer deals with this subject.
