Growing Demand for Multi-Generational Housing

DolceVita| No word yet on whether everybody’s smiling, but in a throwback to mama in the kitchen, Italian La Dolce Vita, a new real estate study by Coldwell Banker Real Estate says that buyers are shopping for homes that house more than one generation.

Almost 70 percent of the company’s real estate agents say they believe economic trends will continue to impact new housing configurations among friends and family. With few new jobs for college grads and grand parents facing not enough money for retirement, ‘home’ may feel increasingly old-fashioned in the future.

Separate entrances, bedroom wings, duplexes — the design focus will be on creating a sense of private space with roommates of every age, gender and relationship tie. via NewsDaily
