RedTracker| Many American women are wondering if Rep. Dan Burton (R-Ind.) will succeed in getting American taxpayers to spend for birth control for horses, now that he and his colleagues have voted to defund Planned Parenthood, the largest supplier of health care and reproductive care information to American women.
It would not surprise us for one moment if horses get their contraceptives, as Republican men move to control their reproduction as well. To be accurate, Burton says that controlling the population of wild horses with contraception, rather than capturing them and housing them in pens, will save taxpayers money.
When the subject is a woman’s right to control the size of her family, very large numbers of Republican men and likely a majority in Congress, appear to believe — based on a new Pew Research survey — that American women not only shouldn’t have legal abortions, but also access to contraception.
Mammograms and numerous other health care services provided by Planned Parenthood are most often used by women in poor communities.
