RedTracker| President Obama has chosen Florida Rep Debbie Wasserman Schultz as incoming chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. Wasserman Schultz, 44, succeeds Tim Kaine, who will run for US Senate from Virginia.
The appointment makes Wasserman Schultz the first female DNC chief in 15 years and the third in history. She is known for her strength as a fundraiser, television spokesperson and her clout in Florida.
The congresswoman is beloved by the Democratic rank and file for her aggressive, outspoken advocacy for liberal points of view. She’s frequently deployed as a surrogate, particularly to groups of women and Jewish voters. via Politico
