FDA Approves 'Alla' Morning After Pill Effective for 5 Days
RedTracker| Following-up the unanimous recommendation by their expert advisory pane in June 2010, the FDA has approved a new morning-after pill called ‘Ella’. It’s effective for five days after unprotected sex and is currently only available by prescription. The drug already is approved in Europe and sold there as EllaOne.
The other morning after pill called Plan B, is available over the counter and has a lifespan of 72 hours. However, it’s ineffective once insemination triggers the hormonal surge that leads to ovulation, a process that can initiate much sooner. via Web MD
