Family Research Council Founder's 10-Day Trip With Male Escort

famile research council alan rekersHopeTracker| George Alan Rekers, the anti-gay Southern Baptist minister founder of the Family Research Council, says he hired a gay hustler to carry his luggage through Europe in order to try to convert the lad. Rekers doesn’t deny that he travelled with Lucien, who he found on he gay escorting site RentBoy.com and retained his services for a 10-day European vacation.

Rekers says that conversion of gays with therapy and counseling is his specialty. The academically-credentially, soldier of God also said in a Facebook interview with the blog joe.my.god that he tried ministering to the 20-year-old gigolo and teach him “it is possible to cease homosexual practices to avoid the unacceptable health risks associated with that behavior.” via NY Daily News

As a board member of NARTH, a group that argues homosexual desires can be “cured” with therapy, and the author of “Growing Up Straight: What Families Should Know About Homosexuality”, Rekers denies Lucien’s assertion that the homosexuality expert created a name for his preferred massage technique - “the long stroke,” a rubdown that involves complex below-the-belt touching.

Perhaps Rekers was only doing market research, you know, trying to understand the audience he seeks to reform. Know thy customers, we always say.

Listen to Rachel Maddow’s brilliant diatribe against George Rekers.

My only comment is that it is true to have these health risks when people continue to have these relationships. Yet, we have to remember that each one has our freedom to choose, no one can take that away from us. We may just let people choose to do what they want and expect whatever consequences that may follow.
