Extraordinarily Dire Predictions for Flood-Ravaged Pakistan
GlobeTracker| UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has left Pakistan, saying the floods are the worst disaster he has seen. Estimates run between 3.5 and 6 million children are at risk from cholera, diarrhoea and dysentery, accoreding to Maurizio Giuliano, spokesman for the UN Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
Estimates are that one-quarter to one-fifth of Pakistan has been ravaged by floods, with 20 million people displaced. Pakistan’s agricultural heartland is under water. via BBC News
