Estée Lauder Signs Joan Smalls As Global Beauty Ambassador

Joan Smalls via Models.comDots| In a fast fashion runup to notableness, Puerto-Rican born Joan Smalls is named a new face of Estée Lauder, beginning with the May 2011 global advertising campaigns.

Joining international beauties like Liu Wen, Hilary Rhoda, Carolyn Murphy, Paulina Porizkova, Anja Rubik, Elizabeth Hurley and Constance Jablonski, Joan Smith says she accepts her new role as a positive role model for women.

“I plan to bring [women] confidence, so they accept themselves the way they are,” said Smalls. “I am looking forward to creating beautiful images and empowering women.”

Aerin Lauder, senior vice president and creative director for Estée Lauder says it’s a very exciting time for the company, adding: “We are rejoicing in the importance of global beauty.” via WWD

As StyleList commented: “Not bad for a rookie.”

Vogue Black wrote about Joan Smalls in a larger discussion about a more seventies scene for models of color happening now.
