Election Night 'Mama Grizzlie' Roundup | Wins and Losses

HopeTracker| US Sen Lisa Murkowski’s write-in campaign to retain her Alaska Senate seat against Tea Party candidate Jole Miller may be working, although the result won’t be decided for some time.

With more than 78% of the precincts tallied, write-in votes — most presumably cast for Murkowski — were leading with 39.96%. Tea Party Express-backed Republican Joe Miller was trailing with 34.89%, while Democrat Scott McAdams had 24.15%, according to the LA Times.

In other major races involving women, Nevada’s Tea Party candidate Sharron Angle failed in her bid to unseat Senate Majority leader Harry Red.  Republican Med Whitman, who self-financed the most expensive political bid in US history, failed to beat Jerry Brown to become governor of California.

Sitting Democratic California Senator Barbara Boxer is claiming victory, but her Republican opponent Carly Fiorina refuses to concede their Senate contest.

All three of Sarah Palin’s ‘Mama Grizzly’ governors won their elections: Susana Martinez(R-NM), Mary Fallin (R-OK), and Nikki Haley(R-SC).

Delaware Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell and Connecticut Senate candidate Linda McMahon were both defeated.Speaking on FOX News last night, Sarah Palin said:

“There are still the Neanderthals out there, who pick on the petty little superficial things like looks, and whether you can or can’t work outside the home if you have small children, all those kinds of things,” Palin said. “I would so hope that at some point those Neanderthals would evolve into something a bit more with it, a bit more modern, and a bit more understanding that yeah, women can accomplish much.” via DailyCaller.com

Other Mama Grizzlie (aka Mama Grizzly) candidates who won include Kelly Ayotte as Senator for New Hampshire; Mary Fallin as first female Governor of Oklahoma; Michele Bachmann who was re-elected to the House of Representatives; Susana Martinez as the nation’s first Latina governor in New Mexico; Kristi Noem who defeated Blue Dog Democratic incumbent Stephanie Hersketh-Sandlin; and Vicky Hartzler, who won a House seat by defeating Democratic incumbent Ike Skelton.
