Edwards Supporters Make 'Love Shield' To Drown Out Westboro Baptist Church Hate Message
RedTracker| Friends and supporters of Elizabeth Edwards created a ‘human buffer’ between her family, TV cameras, and members of the Westboro Baptist Church which was picketing her funeral over the religious views of Elizabeth Edwards and her acceptance of homosexuality and gay marriage.
The group stood in the rain singing Christmas carols and carrying signs reading ‘God loves Elizabeth Edwards’ or simply ‘Grace’ and ‘Hope’.
Westboro Baptist Church, a small family-led group from Topeka believes that God is punishing America over homosexuaity. The group attends funerals of America’s military war casualities, preaching hatred at solemn and emotionally grueling times for family members.
The US Supreme Court is considering a case brought by the father of a US marine killed in Iraq who believes that Westboro Baptist Church shouldn’t be allowed to picket funerals. via Christian Science Monitor
