Body| Beauty| Sexy Americans are falling out of love with plastic surgery, but we shouldn’t attribute the trend to a change of values or better self-esteem in evaluating the woman (or man) in the mirror.
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery say show 1.9m operations last year, down from 2.1m in 2005. The recession appears to have taken its toll, with most plastic surgery operations not covered by health insurance.
Fewer Botox procedures were performed in 2008. While some women are evaluating the cost of the procedures vs working to minimize the effects of aging in more natural ways, there’s no evidence that long-term, if the economy improves, that women (and men) won’e resume their cosmetic procedures. via The Guardian
