RedTracker| We don’t normally celebrate women leaving a media event, but we’re happy to see Kathleen Parker leave ‘Parker Spitzer’. And we’re thrilled to know that Eliot Spitzer will get his own show ‘In the Arena’ where his considerable intellectual might will be unfettered against Parker’s simplistic, “is it a nice day in Georgia?” questions.
CNN says the new program “will look beyond the headlines to analyze and discuss the most important stories of the day.” Gothamist says the new show will be an ensemble with CNN throwing new voices into the mix: ‘Terrorist Fist Jab’ Hill and Will Cain and more.
Ms. Hill, a former Fox News anchor, and Mr. Cain, a former columnist for National Review, are both conservative. Ms. Hill was the subject of attention in mid-2008 when she asked on Fox if a gesture by then-candidate Barack Obama had been a “terrorist fist jab.” via NYT
We watch Parker Spitzer, enduring the intellectual lightweight Parker, and still aren’t sure that America wants a serious evening show comparable to CNN’s Sunday Fareed Zakaria’s GPS. Fareed currently joins Parker Spitzer often, making it a real brain trust. Well almost.
Spitzer does very well with Conservatives who seem to respect him, knowing that he’s got his facts straight and stays on point, bird dogging the critical questions as both Liberals and Conservatives try to go Sarah Palin with the facts.
