GlobeTracker| Last week’s 3,500 persons Washington DC Women Deliver conference on women and child health saw the screening of Christy Turlington’s documentary ‘No Woman, No Cry’. 

Although Melinda Gates announced a $1.5 billion maternal health grant from the Gates Foundation, most observers are skeptical that the UN’s 2015 Millennium Development Goals for women can be met. 

Turlington left Washington, flying to Toronto where she presented her film to MPs in advance of the August 2010 where maternal and child health is on the G8 agenda. Thrilled with Canada’s $1 billion commitment to her initiative, Turlington was diplomatic that Canada has attached restrictions concerning any funding for abortions.
