Celebrating Chinese Beauty | Zao Wei | Feng Hai | Li Bingbing | Max Vadukul

Zao Wei | Feng Hai | China Beauty | Harper’s Bazaar China January 2011 Anne of Carversville

Zao Wei is photographed by Feng Hai for Harper’s Bazaar China, January 2011 in what is a spectacularly beautiful editorial.

One of the most interesting aspects of China’s rise to fashion influence and power will be in the treatment of sensuality and female sexuality. The difference is as simple as comparing the Pirelli Calendar shot by Mario Sorrenti with one shot by Terry Richardson.

The Vogue China January 2011 editorial also bears this reserved sensual imprint, with Max Vadukul lensing Li Bingbing.

Note that the Benjamin Kanarek’s ‘The Gold Rush’ editorial for Harper’s Bazaar China, January 2011 is a bold celebration of red, gold and warding off monsters on Chinese New Year. I am not suggesting that these images represent the totality of China’s sensuality messaging.
