Carine Roitfeld Resigns As Editor of Vogue Paris
Dots| Carine Roitfeld has resigned from French Vogue, advising Jonathan Newhouse, the chief executive of Conde Nast International, that she will step down as of January 2011.
“It’s 10 years that I’m editor of the magazine,” Ms. Roitfeld said in a telephone interview. “I think it’s time to do something different.”
Says the NYTimes Cathy Horyn, Carine Roitfeld said: “I have no problem with Jonathan, and he understood me very well.”
On British Vogue’s Web site, Mr. Newhouse said, “It’s impossible to overstate Carine’s powerful contribution to Vogue and to the fields of fashion and magazine publishing. Under her direction Vogue Paris received record levels of circulation and advertising and editorial success.” via NYTimes
This is a HUGE loss for Vogue Paris! In our opinion Carine Roitfeld understands better than anyone in fashion the concept of female eroticism and suppressed sexual desire. Her taking of the culture pulse and willingness to take creative risks with her magazine put her at the top of the fashion editor pyramid.
